DescriptionScenic papers like the "Romany" became an exciting novelty in Paris shortly after the turn of the eighteenth century. American colonists also were eager to use these wallpaper designs, which transformed their bare rooms into luxurious and refined interiors. Later, these repeating scenics were increased in size and became continuous panoramas. They were imported by wealthy families, wrapped in foil tubes to protect them from the dampness of the sea trip.
