| Description | The original of "The Hingham" was found in a house, built about 1806, in Hingham, Massachusetts. The fact that it was made in sheets confirms its age, as wallpaper was not obtainable in rolls at that time. The house was occupied later by the granddaughter of Elijah Whiton, Esq., a hat maker in the era when every gentleman wore a silk hat. |
