DescriptionThis interesting commemorative paper portrays General Israel Putnam, who left his plow to take arms in defense of the Colonies in the Revolutionary War. The French treatment of his hair and the Empire design indicate manufacture in France about 1810-1820. Source of the paper was the home of the Perkins family in Kennebunkport, once a key seaport on the coast of maine. The home was built in 1750.
