DescriptionThe "Meredith" was reproduced from a paper found in the Smith Homestead which was built about 1775 in a village formerly known as Meredith, New Hampshire. This old town is now part of Lakeport and Laconia. The paper was made in America early in the nineteenth century and was used by this family to decorate a fire board. The same paper was also used for the walls of the one hundred and twenty nine year old Leavitt House of Belmont, New Hampshire. In its original blue coloring, it can now be seen on a bonnet box in the Hewitt Collection of Wallpaper Designs in a New York City museum.
